Empireum

Our mission & identity

Let’s go back to building things that last more than a lifetime.

Empireum's genesis

To talk about what drives Empireum and where we’re headed, we need to talk about the Renaissance.

But don’t worry, it’s not going to be a lecture on the history of art.

It’s more about stories of human potential, struggle, endurance, and triumph over adversity.

Like the story of David – Michelangelo’s sculpture you can see in Empireum’s logo and a young man who defeated a giant, defying the odds.

And like Dante’s Divine Comedy, along with its characters, who travel through the different realms of the afterlife, facing and learning from their sins before reaching the final redemption in none other than the Empireum.

Both have inspired us to find a way back to building real things and building them to last. Against all odds, and using the resources, tech, and experience that’s already there. With people who feel the same way.

But let’s talk about Dante first

Dante was a hell of an explorer (pun intended). His Divine Comedy, one of the greatest works of world literature, is a masterful exploration of the human condition and the nature of the world. Innovative, bold, and surely ahead of its time. It took him 14 years to finish, and 700 years later, it’s still relevant with its timeless and universal themes.

He’s also the protagonist of the story, a curious and inquisitive character. He asks questions, seeks answers, and constantly learns from all the souls he meets.

Driven by his desire to understand the world around him, he finally reaches the ultimate goal of his journey — the Empyrean:

Empyreum in German, Empireo in Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish; finally, in Polish, Empireum.

Now you know how it’s pronounced.

(See where we’re going with this?)

Throughout the poem, Dante comes across multiple obstacles. In the Inferno, he meets the souls of the damned and witnesses their various forms of punishment. On top of that, he deals with guilt, shame, and all the physical challenges of climbing the mountain of purgatory.

But it is in the Empireum where Dante experiences ultimate happiness and gains an ultimate understanding as he reaches this ideal state.

And it’s where we’re headed.

And what about David?

In case you don’t know that story (or forgot it) – David defeated Goliath, much to everyone’s surprise and against all odds.

He’s mentioned several times throughout the Divine Comedy. He’s a source of inspiration and guidance for Dante’s journey. And what better representation of David than his over 4-meter-high sculpture created by another great artist — Michelangelo?

Michelangelo’s “David” is a symbol of physical and intellectual perfection, embodying the ideals of the Renaissance.

Its massive size alone was enough to impress Michelangelo’s contemporaries, describing it as a “miracle” that surpassed all other ancient and modern statues that have ever existed.

Beyond its artistic merits, David also holds a significant cultural and political meaning. It was commissioned as a symbol of the defense of civil liberties embodied in the medieval Republic of Florence. The city-state, which was independent and threatened by rival states and the Medici family, saw David as a representation of their strength and courage.

The statue’s gaze, with a warning glare, is fixed on Rome, the home of the Medicis.

Our mission

Wait, what does all that have to do with 2023 and crypto?

Around that time, another significant medieval city-state – Venice – started forming laws and regulations that favored wealthy families and put smaller merchants at a disadvantage. And though it’s been centuries upon centuries, it still rings a bell today, doesn’t it?

Yeah, and that bell is loud.

When you think of David’s unforseen victory over Goliath as a metaphor in the context of today’s financial world, guess who is the Goliath we’re standing up against? Because you don’t want to miss out on that battle.

And the stakes are high: to empower people around the world to be able to invest and build wealth like the wealthiest 1%. And build a more equal and lasting world while we’re at it.

We have the tools to do it. The transparency and democracy inherent in crypto investments are already here.

But so are money games and transient profits. And what we need right now is a mindset change. Or rather, a little mindset rewind. So we can create a unique mix of innovation and tradition. Novelty built on decades of experience.

Blockchain and real estate.

To steadily build generational wealth. For real. One token at a time.

And to win that battle, even if some don’t believe we can.
